Greetings!
We hope this finds you having a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration with family and friends! We have so much to be thankful for, especially for all of you!
We had a blast in Toronto, Canada performing and presenting at the Parliament of The World Religions. It was heartening on so many levels. Wonderful people from all of the world joined us for our presentation, "Hidden Saints and Drunken Sages," and we were so grateful that we all got the chance to connect and strengthen the bonds that go beyond our home bases, traversing multiple continents.
We experienced a very real unity between people with good will, which bolstered our resolve. It was incredible to witness scores of alliances that have been setting up infrastructures to generate and promote greater understanding and empathy towards a collective Global Ethic. This Global Ethic emphasizes: Respect for Life, Economic Justice, Truth and Compassion, Women's Rights and Care for the Earth. The amount of hope that was fostered over those few days will not only sustain us for a while, it inspires us to continue to foster inclusivity and compassion in all that we do.
DEC 20th-23rd / San Francisco / 5 shows!
Julia and I are gearing up for what promises to be a most exciting ending to 2018, not to mention an incredible highlight on this musical path we've been on together, full-time, for the past 8 years.
On December 20-23rd, The Levins World Folk Ensemble will intertwine with Sweet Can Productions, under the direction of Broadway director/choreographer Mindy Grenke Cooper, to present the World Premiere of "My Friend Hafiz."
In 2014, My Friend Hafiz was a collaboration concert/circus we presented with Sweet Can Productions. This time, we've further defined the storyline which speaks to forgiveness and transformation of the individual and community. The original music, circus and musicians are woven into the production and Ira is excited to indulge his theater BFA and play the role of the "innkeeper"!
The show will take place at the Dance Mission Theater, 3316 24th St, San Francisco, CA 94110.

The following weekend, Dec 26-30th, we switch gears but continue our collaboration with Sweet Can Productions! It's their annual Winter Circus Cabaret, Mittens & Mistletoe.
This is a treat that we are honored to be a part of - finally! Our version of the song, "Ale Brider" has been the opening number for this show since its inception. This year's theme is A Midwinter's Nights Dream and it promises to be one of the finest incarnations yet!
