We love the fresh write up from North Elk… (April 16th) "Ira and Julia Levin will be our second new act of this season, and we know their music will make them seem like old friends. The Levins (pronounced LeVINNs ) are a husband and wife contemporary folk duo, that offers wonderful harmonies with acoustic accompaniment. Their music is upbeat and hopeful. Along with music from their first CD, My Friend Hafiz, they will share songs from their 2015 release: Trust. We hope you will be able to join us to hear them live.
Blending guitar and piano with their beautifully-matched voices has been their life since 2002. They were married that year, after meeting at a singer-songwriter competition in Berkeley, California. In 2010 they moved to New York, leaving the bands they had worked with on the west coast, to start composing and performing together. Their albums have led them to perform both nationally and in Amsterdam and England. They have opened for Cheryl Wheeler, Vance Gilbert, Sloan Wainwright, and The Kennedy’s, among others. As Tom Staudter, of the Croton Gazette writes, “The straight forward vocals and unhurried tempos allow listeners to share in the earnest and honest musical art that Julia and Ira have perfected. “ Come out and help us welcome Ira and Julia to the North Elk! - c/o St. Mary Anne’s Church 315 S. AND we are looking forward to our friend, Tom Cordullo, (a.k.a Tom from Nyack) opening for us at Borderline…Wherever you are… join us… in song.
